In the first two years of school, your child should be able to identify and sequence numbers up to 120 (forwards and backwards), as well as grouping them in hundreds, tens, and ones. They should be able to make groupings using simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. E.g. 2 x 3 = 6, If I had 4 apples and I gave Michael one of my apples, I would have 3 apples left.

In the third and fourth year of school, your child should be able to write sentences with more accuracy and endurance. This includes writing text with differing lengths such as paragraphs and short stories. They should be able to find sources to add quality and credibility to their work.

In the third and fourth year of school, your child should be able to identify and sequence numbers up to 10,000 as well as negative numbers (forwards and backwards), as well as counting in 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 25s, and 50s. They should be able to use fractions and calculate up to 4 digit numbers.

In the last two years of primary school, your child should be able to write text with the purpose to communicate intentions and connect to certain audiences. This includes writing to influence, entertain or persuade, appealing to other children, adults, and people with similar interests or differing beliefs.
