I had a wonderful discussion with a parent the other day about the positive sides of online tuition. She was delighted that her son was receiving effective tuition from one of our science teachers employed at 'Tovah's Tutoring Company Ltd' and found the time valuable for her son. It made me so proud that we received a positive parent review from our online tutoring lessons, so I had to share it now with you.

Here is what she was impressed with:
1. Her son could ask any question he liked about his assessments, and he received expert and confident answers from his tutor teacher.
The beauty of online tuition with our tutors is that we are all qualified and experienced teachers. We know NCEA very well and our subject content knowledge is outstanding. You may come across other tutors who may have some knowledge, know the basics about subjects, and have a rough idea about NCEA assessments - however with us - we have taught it for years! We know the ins and outs of each assessment criteria and can talk your ear off about the subjects you want to learn more about. That is why we receive many positive parent reviews for our online tutoring.
Let's put it this way...
This is what we've done to get to where we are now:

STEP ONE:
We have developed a love for a subject, so we went out of our way to study it.

STEP TWO:
We continued our experience and developed practical and theoretical knowledge about it (some of the teachers developed master's and doctorates in the subjects!)

STEP THREE:
We then learned how to teach it.

STEP FOUR:
But wait, there's more! After that, we physically experienced teaching it until we were fully registered...
and then...

STEP FIVE:
After a few more years (some more than others hehe) of figuring out how to effectively teach the subject, we become experienced teachers who realised the subject has become a treasured part of who we are...

And... because of all the years growing and exploring the subject throughout our lives, we now pass on our knowledge, somewhat subconsciously, just like one would breathe in and out, without a thought. It is just what we know, and it is what we know quite well.
So, when I say, you will receive expert tuition with our experienced teachers, I mean it!
I'm not sure why, but there is this odd assumption that you can't ask a question more than once. To me, that is completely untrue. I say ask and ask until you completely understand.
2. Her son could repeatedly ask the same question to build clarification
I'm not sure why, but there is this odd assumption that you can't ask a question more than once. To me, that is completely untrue. I say ask and ask until you completely understand. With our one-on-one tutorials, you are able to do that. The whole point of the individual tutorials is to make sure the individual moves at their own pace, develops their skills and content knowledge, and learns to how to do things on their own.
With no distractions!
This means that if there is ever a moment of hesitancy or uncertainty, the student can ask a question. In fact, they can ask as many questions as they like! I encourage it! Discussions are a fantastic way to develop knowledge and understanding of ourselves, the subjects studied, and also the wider world.
It is important to us at Tovah's Tutoring Company Ltd, that you ask those questions you are too afraid to ask in class and that you trust your teacher will provide expert sound advice and knowledge on the subject so you can start to do more things on your own.

If the answer the teacher provides doesn't give you clarification, then they will try different ways to build clarity. For example:
Using analogies specific to your own interests and connecting the idea with your own experiences
Using different learning activities which suit your learning style (kinesthetics, aural, verbal, visual, analytical, social, musical, combination etc.)
picturing it in your mind
writing an example
discussing it
connecting it to the student's life
recalling a memory of doing the work in class
analysing it
recall through acronyms and memorising methods
artistic and creative examples, such as dance it, act it out, sing about it
experience it (practically)
researching it
defining it in different ways - the sky is the limit!
Trying different activities that move in parallel with the same skills or content so it might arise in a different manner
Plus, many more ways!
